One in a series of Chipmunks of Rocky Mountain National Park. In my youth, we spent the summers at the YMCA camp in Estes Park Colorado. We would venture into the park and watch the busy little ones munching on their favorite snacks. This little lady was photographed on the way up Trail Ridge Road.
I live in the southwest where the land is burning. In the distance are billows of smoke thrusting ash into the air. Tiny particles. As the sun retreats westward it takes on a fiery red glow that matches the flames below.

I love color. Each pastel art work is an internal expression manifested outwardly. Certain colors jump out at me. Turquoise, reds, oranges and purples are “foundation” colors.
I believe all people see themselves in something. The animals I draw may be someones totem. A representation of how they see themselves and their strengths within. I hope to bring that out for people. For them to look at the art each day and remind themselves of their inner power.
Each work is unique and talks to each person differently. When I draw I work on all the parts except the eyes. I leave them for last. It’s like putting in the soul of the animal at the end.
